Whilst at Tigers Den Luxury Lodge in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds (New Zealand) We recently witnessed New Zealand Tui (A New Zealand bird) flying drunk. These wonderful NZ native birds have been seen devouring fermented nectar and actually flying drunk . The real vale in these birds is there voice box ,actually they have two of them and the myriad of vocals they can perform . They often rest in our Kowhai trees in our flax garden.

To complement these song birds we have many of New Zealand’s Bell Birds living on our doorstep here at Tigers Den.
The Bellbirds actually have different songs for different areas . They also feed on the flax seeds and nectar . Sorry have not seen one drunk in charge yet. They are very loyal to their lifelong partners and both rear there young . A new family usually three to for chicks are ready to fledge after 14 days . No time for 21st birthday here.
As with the Tui the bird of song the Bell Bird has a magnificent voice that can be heard from a distance far away . They generally break into song early morning and afternoon .
Come visit us at Tigers den and experience our wonderful New Zealand Birds Of Song. Contact us to confirm you next holiday escape.
